It is not uncommon to lose track of your life’s responsibilities. Life can get hectic fast! Whether you are a busy college student focusing on classes and a part-time job, a parent struggling to balance household responsibilities while also managing a job, or someone who spends a lot of time on a career, you tend to forget everything else, you could benefit from using a bullet journal.
A bullet journal is a unique form of journaling, unlike any other type you may have used before. It may take a little more time to set up in the beginning but afterward keeping up with plans is quick and easy.
A bullet journal is perfect for bringing a little more order and organization to your busy and hectic life.
Here are a few things to help you organize your life with bullet journaling.
Organizing Your Journal Sections
If you like to use a planner, you will like the bullet journal. It is a little different, but it offers much more than a regular planner. At the beginning of the year, I turned my planner into a bullet journal. I found that it was easier to use the planner, but I wanted to keep up with a lot more than just my appointments and other events.
I began to use my bullet journal for things such as my daily activities, my daily readings such as my Bible study time, and other things I was reading, and then I branched out to using it as a blogging tool.
After a few months passed by I realized I was using the journal to document my weight loss efforts, the weather, and how I was feeling each day. It has become an unbelievably valuable tool.
Before you begin to use your bullet journal you will need to organize it to fit your specific needs. If you need help, read my previous post “A Guide to Starting Your First Bullet Journal” where I give examples of the different sections you can start with.
If you are going to use your bullet journal to help organize your life you definitely want to begin with your calendar pages and move on from there. The sections you use are totally up to you and what your needs are. You should decide what type of bullet journal you would like to use first, whether it is a soft type planner or a notebook where you can add more pages. Either of these will work.
Organize Your Calendar
Bullet journaling is going to help you become more organized in nearly every facet of your life. Perhaps you run a busy household, with kids who are participating in a different sport or activity.
This journal can be a way for you to keep track of soccer practice, football games, and cheerleading camp. You can use it to keep track of the family’s medical or dental appointments and have a place for your own purposes, like diet and fitness, or managing the finances. All of this and more can be done just with the bullet journal.
Begin organizing the bullet journal with your monthly calendar pages and then move onto your weekly or daily planning. It helps to begin with a monthly calendar because it gives you an overall picture of the whole month in one glance. You get a quick glimpse of how busy you will be that month or if you have some free time.
Once you have done your monthly planning, move on to your weekly or daily calendar pages to plan out your activities. This is a great step-by-step way to help get you organized.
Organize Your Goals and Achieve Them
You can use a bullet journal to help set your goals and achieve them. Setting goals is easy, but setting achievable goals is a different thing entirely. These are goals that are more realistic and that will help you reach your full potential. Your goals can be anything you want, but they should be easy to achieve.
How do you know the difference? Easy.
An achievable goal is one where you can list actionable steps that will help you achieve a goal. It is something you can see by writing it all out and looking at it step-by-step.
Set up a section in your bullet journal where you write all about your goals and what is needed to reach them. You can set out your goals as monthly goals, weekly goals, or daily goals. You may even have annual goals.
As each week goes by making sure to check up on your progress. The advantage of using a bullet journal is that you can add pages or sections to it to help you achieve those things you want to attain.
Take advantage of the bullet journal to help you organize and achieve your goals.
Organize Your Time Wisely to Help Alleviate Anxiety and Stress
A bullet journal is extremely helpful in managing your time wisely and therefore your mental health. Mental health is something you should never minimize or push aside. Even though things like anxiety and stress are a normal part of life and something many people deal with, you do not want to ignore them.
Using a journal can help to alleviate anxiety brought on by the stress of all the chaos of your everyday life. When a journal is used to organize your life better, this, in turn, starts to reduce your stress because you are far less worried about forgetting or missing appointments and you can begin to enjoy other events in your life.
When organizing your time do not forget time for yourself, time with your family, and time with the creator or what powers that be in your life. If you enjoy having a Bible study or mediating, make sure to make time for those things. Those times are just as important, if not more than all the appointments and events in your life.
These are just a few ideas to help get you organized with a bullet journal and give you a few ideas on how helpful a bullet journal can be in your life.
Happy Journaling!
